AFRO-SOUL musician Nolwazi "Lwazi" Mabizela is spreading her wings to amapiano to motivate dreamers.
The 35-year-old musician from Umbilo in Durban, who was featured by DJ Merlon on his two hit songs, has released her debut single Amaphupho.
Lwazi started releasing her own music in 2018 with her debut single titled Indlunkulu, followed by Ukukhanya in 2023.
The self-taught guitarist told Daily Sun that switching to amapiano is her way of showing that she's versatile.
“In fact, I started my music career in 2009 when I was featured by Beta Sweety on his song titled Uthando.

“In 2014 I was also featured by DJ Merlon on his song titled King of Love and he also featured me on his other song titled Get to Know in 2017. So, now I've been featured on deep house and Afro-house,” she said.
Lwazi said she titled her single Amaphupho (dreams) because she wants to motivate people to always hold on to their dreams even if they are dancing.
“I want to encourage people to fight for what they want and not give up, no matter what. It's important for people to always dream big and fight for what they believe in,” she said.
She said while she focuses on amapiano for now, an amapiano album is in the works for 2024, allowing her to explore the potential for her guitar skills to complement this versatile genre.
“I'll see if I do amapiano song that my guitar will fit in because I’m a versatile musician with my guitar,” she said.
