Actress and radio personality Monnye Kunupi is back on radio with a bang.

Monnye, best known as MmaMosadi – the queen – on Mzansi Magic’s telenovela The Throne, was last on air in 2019. She previously hosted Reiketlile on Kasie FM on Sundays.

Today, Monnye has joined Radio Bop to present the Old Skool Breakfast Show at 6am to 9am every Saturday.

Monnye said: “The show is about remembering our old days through music, embracing the changes in our lives and celebrating the people we have become.”

Monnye’s first day back on air was on Saturday, 18 June. She said she was scared on her first day but she loved every moment on air.

“I cherished the support I got from my colleagues and it made me feel at ease,” she said.

Monnye said she is currently shooting Kings of Joburg season two.

“Acting and radio are my life. They fulfil my soul. It is like the air I breathe,” said Monnye.

She said she has more work in the pipeline which she cannot talk about yet.

Before acting and radio, Monnye was a runner, production secretary, production manager and producer for different production houses.

When Monnye is not acting or on air, she plays golf. She said the sport keeps her fit and engaged. “It can be a friendly competition against friends or with myself.”
