MZANSI television lovers and fans of the popular comedian were shocked to hear the sad news of their beloved Khelina.

On Wednesday, 1 November, social media platforms were set abuzz. This comes after the news broke that the actress and comedian Lebohang Lettie Mpyana has passed away.

The 34-year-old actress from Mmotong in Limpopo was popularly known for her role as Khelina on Mzansi Magic's telenovela DiepCity.

The family spokesman, T Mpyana, also shared a mini statement on her Facebook page telling people to refrain from tagging and posting on her account.

“It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our daughter Lebogang Mpyana.

Lebo died after a short illness. We ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers in this time of bereavement. Memorial service and funeral service details will follow,” said family spokesperson T Mpyana.

Lebohang was best known for her bubbly and funny role as Khelina, alongside legendary actors such as Hamilton Dlamini, Sonia Mbele, Mduduzi Mabaso and Dawn Thandeka King on the show.

This is where she gained popularity, and Mzansi fell in love with her role.

The actress was also part of the Mahuma Group for 18 years. She also joined the Mahlakung soapie on Thobela FM in 2016.

In 2021, Lebohang walked away with the Viewers Choice Best Actress Award for the Royalty Soapie Awards.
