Perseverance is the mother of success, and rapper Ntokozo Zakwe is a true example of waiting until good things happen.
Zakwe’s third album, Cebisa, has finally reached gold status. This comes nearly two years after it was released.
He celebrated his album’s success at Views at Twenty5 in Durban on Friday, where he revealed that he understands his music isn’t like that of other artists, who reach gold status in a day.
Zakwe dedicated the gold status to his parents, Lungile and Thisha Zakwe.
He presented it to his mum, who attended the celebration.

The Sebentin hitmaker told SunBuzz he taught himself to give his albums time.
“It’s important to understand the type of music you’re doing and not compare yourself to other musicians.
“I released my debut album in 2011. I gave it time and it reached gold status in 2013.
“I released the second one in 2015, but it didn’t do well.
“In 2018, I released my third one and gave it time. I’m celebrating its gold-status success.
“It’s important to give yourself and your work enough time.”
He is one of three artists who’re still with controversial music stable, Mabala Noise, after many turned their backs on the label.
Zakwe said the reason he didn’t leave Mabala Noise was due to the fact that the label brought him back into the music industry when he was hopeless.
“In 2015, I released my last album with Native Rhythms.
“And after that I was hopeless because I didn’t have a record label.
“They rescued me and motivated me to come back to music under them.
“Today, I’m celebrating the gold status with them.”
