TSHIDI Putsanyana from Florida, Roodepoort, had her car stolen at the Roodepoort Home Affairs.
She lodged a claim with MiWay, her insurer, but it was rejected on the grounds of dishonesty. She filed an appeal and it, too, was rejected.
WHAT I DID
I looked through her claim and the rejection letter.
SOLUTION
Tshidi was told about the short term insurance Ombudsman and submitted a complaint. The Ombud will investigate, and if it turns out the rejection was unfair, MiWay will have to pay Tshidi.
Her claim may have been unfairly rejected due to a misunderstanding between her and the assessor who was in charge of her claim.
