THE FACTS

Thembi Mncube from Boksburg, Ekurhuleni, said when her son’s dad died in 2016, he’d left money in a trust for him.

Thembi received monthly sums from Bophelo, the trust.

But in May last year she received a letter stating the balance of the trust fund had been transferred to a new company, Fairheads.

But the balance transferred was less than what it should have been.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to Fairheads to find out where the rest of the balance went.

SOLUTION

Fairheads said Bophelo no longer existed and the balance was the only money received from Bophelo.

Fairheads said the fund was being investigated by the Financial Services Board, and a curator was trying to recover as much as possible from Bophelo.
