THE FACTS

Miriam Dlamini from New Canada, Soweto, said she sustained serious neck injuries and a fractured back in an accident in 2007.

She said she submitted her claim in 2008 but since then, has not received any clear directive from the Road Accident Fund what her next step should be.

She last spoke to them in 2008.

WHAT I DID

I spoke to the fund to investigate what the status of her claim was.

SOLUTION

The fund’s Boniswa Matshoba said they scheduled appointments with medical experts to assess Miriam’s injuries, which she refused to attend.

That meant the fund was not in a position to assess the claim on the basis of existing documents which don’t support a claim for damages and as a result, the claim was closed.
