BLOEMFONTEIN Celtic management have apparently punished midfielder Lantshene Phalane for allegedly coming to the club’s training session under the influence of alcohol.

Sunsport has reliably learnt that Phalane is now training with the Celtic Colts side that campaigns in the ABC Motsepe League for breaching the club’s code of conduct.

Explained the Source: “Phalane was demoted last week to train with the Colts team after he arrived at training drunk. He has a tendency of missing training without notifying the technical staff and management has had enough of his bad behaviour hence they punished him.

They removed him from the first team squad because they were concerned that he could influence other players to follow suit and get off the rails.”

This is not the first time that the 31-year-old allegedly arrived at Siwelele’s training ground drunk.

Explained another source: “He was told to return home last season before the start of lockdown for arriving at training drunk and smelling alcohol. He could barely walk properly at the time and he was then suspended by the club after facing a disciplinary hearing.”

In December last year, Phalane was placed on the transfer list with immediate effect for reasons management refused to divulge to the public. However, he was eventually removed from the market to continue with his duties.

“Yes, I can confirm that Bloemfontein Celtic have put Lantshene Phalane on the transfer list," said former CEO Khumbulani Konco to the media at the time without giving reasons.

“The information has already been communicated to his agent and any team interested in his services is free to contact us."

Celtic management were not available for comment at the time of publishing.
