THE death of Mpho Moteka’s chicks left him devastated.
Even though some people helped him, it hasn’t been enough and he’s asking for help from SunReaders.
The 26-year-old from Mangaung, Free State told Daily Sun he lost 700 boiler chickens worth R50 000 last Monday, 8 February as a result of heavy rain in his kasi.
He said he was hurt and wanted to give up.
“I certainly thought of quitting because of this massive setback. I was shattered and confused when I woke up to such a devastating outcome,” he said.

Mpho took to social media to share the effects of the rainfall.
“I was heavily discouraged after I lost a great amount of livestock,” said Mpho.
He said his post on social media didn’t go unnoticed and people sent him money.
“#SaveMphosBusiness was formed on Twitter to try to save my business,” he said.
Mpho said this gave him courage to start afresh.
“People showed me love and support. I got the lift I needed.”
He thanked people who helped him so far and hope they’ll continue helping others.
“I feel encouraged and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m sincerely thankful to everyone who joined the movement to help save my business. What the movement did was above and beyond my expectations,” he said.
