MAN HANGS HIMSELF!

accreditation

A 48-YEAR-OLD man was found hanging by a rope inside his home in Chesterville in Durban on Monday, 9 August.

According to a source, the deceased was discovered by a neighbour who wanted to discuss a certain matter.

“She first knocked on the door that was slightly opened, but there was no response. Then she pushed the door open, only to make the gruesome discovery,” said the source.

She said the neighbour screamed for help as the deceased was still showing signs of life.

“Other neighbours came in running and cut off the rope while others called the ambulance. But by the time it arrived, he was already dead,” said the source.

She added that even though the deceased did not leave a note, his friends said a few days before he died by suicide, he told them that he was going to take his own life.

“They said he told them that he was going to kill himself because he had many problems. When they probed further, he would just move on to another topic. For that reason, they never thought he was serious.

“The kids of another neighbour also said on Sunday, they saw the deceased moving in and out of his home. The kids said they saw him peeping through the window a number of times, as if he was checking to see if no one was watching him.”

KZN police spokeswoman Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed the incident.

“An inquest docket was opened at Cato Manor Police Station for investigation. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated,” said Gwala.
