MPUMALANGA cops have launched a manhunt following an escape of an inmate on Wednesday at Barberton correctional centre in Mpumalanga.
According to Ehlanzeni Correctional Services communication manager, Mesia Hlungwani, Bheki Manzini (38) is a South African from Mahushu between White River and Hazyview who escaped while working at the terrain of the facility.
Hlungwani said an internal investigation has been launched.
"The Department of Correctional Services is appealing to the public to assist with any information that could lead to the re-arrest of the escapee," he said.
Hlungwani said the public is further advised to immediately contact their nearest police station or call 10111.
Alternatively, people can contact the head of security, Zulu Rabson on 082 080 1659 and never attempt to institute a citizen’s arrest.
