THEY were known for living large, but no one knew where they got the money from.

Yesterday it all came crashing down when the two men aged 27 and 36 appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court on charges of robbery, burglary and possession of stolen property.

This came after cops found them on Monday in possession of suspected stolen goods including children’s boots, men’s jackets, TVs, sound systems, clothing, PlayStations and ARVs.

Colonel Thembeka Mbele told Daily Sun: “The questions that had been bothering a lot of people were finally answered when police arrested the suspects.”

She said on the day of the arrest, Umkomaas Vispol police and a security company followed up on information about men suspected to have been involved in a robbery.

The cops searched the premises in Umlazi and Lamontville, south of Durban, where they found stolen goods.

“The suspects were asked to produce documents proving the goods belonged to them but they failed to do so,” said Mbele.

She said they were linked to an incident last week, in which a 46-year-old truck driver was confronted by a group of men at Isipingo Beach. The men then loaded boxes of clothing into their Quantum before speeding off.

“A case of robbery was opened at Isipingo Police Station for investigation,” said Mbele.

She said a 36-year-old woman returned from work last month to her home in Wyebank to find the front door damaged and her belongings gone.

“A case of burglary was opened at Pinetown Police Station,” Mbele told the People’s Paper.

“The suspects were also linked to another case in Maydon Wharf, where a vehicle with boxes of ARVs was broken into.”
