IN less than 30 minutes, Njabulo Mofokeng allegedly committed three crimes against three different victims.
And now police have issued a warrant of arrest for the man they described as very dangerous.
According to police spokesman Captain Philemon Khorombi, Njabulo was arrested for armed robbery on 12 September in 2017.
But on 13 March 2018, when he appeared in the Lenasia Magistrates Court, Njabulo escaped from police custody.
“The suspect jumped out of the court box and ran out of the court and vanished,” said Khorombi.
On Friday 20 April Njabulo allegedly went on a wild crime spree.
Khorombi said Njabulo allegedly broke into a man’s shack in the middle of the night.
“The deceased was sleeping in his shack in Kliptown, Soweto when Njabulo allegedly broke in and demanded money. He shot the man, who was rushed to the hospital but died on way.
“Immediately after he shot and killed the first victim, Njabulo committed another crime nearby. He robbed a male victim of his cellphone at gunpoint.”
From there the suspect allegedly went on to a tavern, where he robbed the owner of an undisclosed amount of money as well as bottles of alcohol.
“The three crimes happened in less than 30 minutes,” said Khorombi.
Khorombi said when the suspect was initially arrested for armed robbery he was detained at the Kliptown Police Station.
Khorombi said police are looking for the suspect and are appealing to the public for information that will lead to his arrest.
