BABY & GOGO DIE IN HORRIFIC CRASH!

accreditation

NTOMBIZODWA Miya (43) loved her granddaughter Amukelwa Miya so much that she took her with her everywhere she went.

But her love ended in a tragic accident on the R74 between Bergville and Harrismith on Monday, when a white Isuzu bakkie and a blue Daihatsu collided head on. All five women who were in the bakkie died on the scene.

Ntombizodwa and her six-month-old granddaughter from Mazizini Village in Bergville were in the blue Daihatsu. They died on the scene. The other four people who were in the car with them were seriously injured and are fighting for their lives in hospital.

Ntombizodwa’s daughter Thembelihle Miya said her mum was on her way to see a doctor in Bergville when the accident happened.

“When she left the house, Amukelwa cried for her and she took her along. Our neighbour gave them a lift. But unfortunately they didn’t reach their destination.

“We are saddened by their deaths. My mum was a loving parent and she took care of us. And Amukelwa was a healthy and bubbly baby. But we believe it was God’s will,” said Thembelihle.

KZN police spokeswoman Captain Nqobile Gwala said that a case of culpable homicide was opened after the accident.

“No one has been arrested but the police are investigating.”
