EVERYTHING on reality show Fix My Love, presented by Khabonina Qubeka, looks perfect.
But hair stylist Kabelo Pusoe claims he has not been paid for work he did on the show’s first nine shoots.
Kabelo told Daily Sun he was owed R2 000 for working on the show, which airs on the BET channel on DStv.
He said he was also promised more work with the production company, which never transpired. “I agreed to do the work for R8 000, which is very little, because I was promised a reasonable rate on the company’s next production,” he said. “The shoot ended up taking almost three months, which was not part of the agreement. I want my money, but they are not taking my calls.”
But Thabang Masanabo, founder of production company Thape Media, said Kabelo was difficult to work with and they had to let him go.
“Kabelo was very unprofessional and he was over an hour late on four occasions, resulting in massive delays. He was dismissed last month after he abandoned work and several attempts to reach him were unsuccessful,” she said.
Thabang said a production assistant was once nearly attacked by six men as they had wrapped up work much later than expected, due to Kabelo’s actions.
“Absconding from work is grounds for immediate dismissal and we relieved Kabelo of his duties the day he did not pitch up for work,” she said.
“He was paid R6 000 of the R8 000 we agreed on. The outstanding R2 000 was not paid because he worked on only nine of the 14 episodes agreed on.”
