The United Nations Human rights council (UNHRC) has adopted a resolution to support the Olympic Gold Medalist.

The UN will be defending Caster’s rights to participate in global sports.

In a media statement released, the UNHRC said, “The international community has a duty to protect and defend the rights of Cater Semenya”.

The aim is to eliminate all discrimination against women and girls in sports.

This is the first time that the human rights system has held an international sports association to account for their obligations under international human rights law.
