MORULA SUN Casino’s hall in Mabopane, Tshwane was filled to capacity yesterday as mourners gathered to attend Segale
Mogotsi’s memorial service.

The radio presenter and DJ died on Monday at Edenvale Hospital in Ekurhuleni. He was rushed there on Sunday after complaining of body pains.

Segale (47) was working for North West FM and seemed to have predicted his death.

Six days before his death, he wrote about his ill-health on Twitter.

“This past week I lost two friends. Am I next? RIP Mdoo and Ken Modise,” read his message.

Station manager David Mabusela said Segale didn’t make it to work on Saturday for Platinum Network Castle, his afternoon show.

Friends, family and fans celebrated his life by dancing and singing along to his favourite songs.

Family representative Segodi Mogotsi said Segale was a proud Mogotsi.

“I request our ancestors to give him a warm welcome. I pray they accept his spirit and make him feel at peace,” he said.

Segale’s daughter Thatogatsi said she respects her dad for uniting all his kids.

“I know all my half-brothers, my half-sister and their mothers.”

Former Radio Bob presenter Edgar Dikgole said he was the one who introduced Segale to radio.

“I remember putting him behind the microphone and recording him. I then played him the clip and just like that he was in. I groomed him to be the best.”

North West FM said they will pay tribute to him on Saturday by playing 40 of his favourite songs.
