IT IS difficult to get back to the world as people are afraid of those who test positive for coronavirus.
Covid-19 survivor Tumisang Mokau, from Luka near Rustenburg, said dealing with the virus was painful enough but people being afraid of her and telling her she was going to give them corona, even though she had tested negative, made it worse.
Tumisang tested positive in August last year after she travelled to another city.
“I had a loss of smell, taste and I experienced shortness of breath,” she said.
She said steaming with eucalyptus oil and drinking Artemisia afra with ginger and garlic helped her towards recovery.
“It took 10 days to recover and my taste and smell only came back after three weeks,” she said.
“I’m grateful to my family and my partner who supported me through this situation.”
She said her family encouraged her to be strong and maintain a positive attitude.
“I have learnt to take care of myself. I always wear a mask and I have sanitiser with me all the time.
But I know the pain of people being afraid of me telling me I will give them coronavirus.”
She encouraged people to continue taking Covid-19 seriously because it kills.
“Let’s continue keeping a social distance as we fight against this deadly virus and give each other support,” she said.
“It’s difficult for the victims. They will be encouraged by love from the people around them.”
