AWARD-WINNING radio presenter Bongani “Bobo” Mthombothi has started an online radio.

The station is called Good Life Radio and it’s based in Montana, Tshwane.

Speaking to SunBuzz, Bobo, who presents Ikwekwezi FM’s flagship show Siditjhile, said establishing the station is his way of opening up the industry.

“But on the other hand this was more than just about opening up the industry, but also creating and fighting unemployment. This is because there are many graduates out there who are struggling to find jobs in the media space.

“When mainstream radio station search for new talent, they want established people and as Good Life Radio we want to fill that gap. I am always asked for tips on how they can get on radio.

“So I then thought why don’t I create a platform where they can harness their talent to get where they want to be,” he said.

The seasoned presenter said that the radio station has been in the works since last year. It is self-funded by him and his partners.

“I am glad that the station is on its feet. It was a long process that included hard work, dedication and team effort. But it was all worth it and I hope that in the near future we get funding so that we can start paying our talent as they are on voluntary basis contracts,” he said.

Bobo said the station’s talent include the likes of actor Sipho Mbele.

“I hope the station grows to be one of the biggest online radio stations in Mzansi,” he said.
