GAGASI FM drive time host DJ Warras has angered Twitter users with comments on child support grant.

After President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Tuesday night that there would be special coronavirus grants, Warras wrote that he didn’t agree with child support grant.

In a post he later deleted, he called child grants a sh*t plan and said people should not be paid for having kids.

The DJ, whose real name is Warrick Stock, was attacked by many social media users, who accused him of being insensitive to single mothers and poor people.

Warras later deleted his tweet and apologised to the nation. This was despite the fact that many people supported him.

He wrote: “I have since deleted the tweet as the point I was making was not understood. I was trying to make a point about absent fathers who leave single mothers and the state to bear the responsibility of raising their children.”

When the SunTeam called DJ Warras, he said his twitter post was addressing a system that didn’t have a plan to empower single mothers who’re grant beneficiaries.

“I never said the president mustn’t give it to the people. I was speaking about absentee fathers whose behaviours are accepted by the system. I was engaging with someone who mentioned food vouchers instead of giving people money,” he said.

Warras said it doesn’t affect his life when people say he must fallh.

He said: “Twitter is full of people who don’t want to engage in debates and don’t want people to have different opinions. I only deleted the tweet because when it stands alone, it is offensive. But I still think something can be done to force men to face their responsibility while the women are being empowered.”

Gagasi FM spokeswoman Khulekani Shandu said: “What Warras posted doesn’t have an impact on the show because he posted that in his own capacity. He wasn’t insulting anyone, but expressed a view anyone can agree or disagree with.”
