T rompies’ Mjokes is coming back with his sixth album, which was inspired by his marriage.

The artist, who co-owns record label Kalawa Jazmee, said his upcoming album Time Between Times is about love.

Speaking to SunBuzz Mjokes, who married his long-time girlfriend in 2017, said: “I was madly in love when I wrote this album. I’d just tied the knot, so I wrote whatever I was feeling at the time.

“The album is about love and happiness, a feeling people in new marriages often feel. I hope people enjoy it.”

Mjokes, who’s written hits such as Umntwanakhe and Sweety Lavo by Trompies, recently released a single titled Dikatareng that will be on his upcoming album.

Dikatareng was released in March and it’s doing well despite lockdown. It’s getting a lot of airplay on radio. I’m sure people who haven’t heard it will love it.

“Like all of the songs in the album, it’s about love,” said Mjokes, whose real name is Emmanuel Matsane.

He’s also started another record label, La Familia Records, and signed his son as his first artist.

“My son is following in my footsteps and I couldn’t be more prouder. His name is Jazmee. I named him after Kalawa Jazmee. He’s following that name.

“He’s about to release his debut album through our label. We’re looking forward to that.

“We’re also planning to collaborate on a song together. It only makes sense that I work with my son, especially because La Familia Records belongs to both of us.

“People must look out for a hot collaboration between us. I look at him and I realise he’s 10 times more talented than I am.”

The album will be released in October.
