THE feud between Kaya 959 and media personality Unathi Nkayi is far from over.
Unathi, who was recently axed from the popular radio station, has released another statement.
This comes after the station denied silencing her from telling her side of the story of how she was dismissed.
Unathi, who’s also a judge on Idols SA, released a screenshot of the letter that Kaya allegedly sent to her.
She said she is releasing the document because she wants to prove that she wasn’t lying when she said she was silenced by the station.
The letter, which was allegedly sent to Unathi on 17 November, reads: “Naturally you are bound by your confidentiality obligations and are warned against utilising any platform official or unofficial to perpetuate your version of events or to in any way damage the goodwill that the informed relationship prior to your breach.”
Unathi went on to say that she leaves the matter in the hands of her lawyers.
“It seems like Kaya only wants to value freedom of speech when it’s the only one controlling who says what through legal acts,” she said.
But Kaya 959 on the other hand poured cold waters on the claims and said it will not in any way attempt to restrict anyone from telling their truth.
Kaya said in a statement: “Ms. Nkayi is well aware of the contents of the final communication addressed to her by Kaya 959, especially where confidentiality and perpetuating a false narrative is concerned. Ms. Nkayi is also very aware of the reasons and circumstances that led to the termination of her contract with Kaya 959, the evidence of which has been shared with her for her records. As per our last media release, Kaya 959 would prefer not to be drawn into a debate around the details of what transpired in the interest of both parties. However, Ms Nkayi is free to share the details of the issue that arose between her and Kaya 959 should she feel the urge to, provided what she shares reflects the true version of events.”
