MUSICIAN and producer Siphelele “Hitman Pyscho Rapper” Miya spent 10 years as an underground rapper and finally he sees light at the end of the tunnel.
The 28-year-old from Umlazi, south of Durban, has released his second EP Trying To Be Commercial to say farewell in style to his time as a long-time underground rapper.
He has started making his mark as a commercial rapper and is already getting bookings while his music videos are appearing on national TV.
Hitman told SunBuzz music has started to help him put bread on the table and he has learnt that perseverance is the mother of success.
“I started doing underground hip hop in 2010 when I used to release mixtapes. The underground music is good but doesn’t pay,’ said Hitman.
“Being an underground rapper for a decade has helped me to learn about hip hop and made me master my musical talent.”
He said now was the time to be commercial and show the world his musical talent while getting paid to feed his family.
“I performed in many places, including Eyadini Lounge and King Zwelithini Stadium where I shared the stage with hip hop heavyweight, Zakwe.
“I recently featured as an extra on Emtee’s music video, to be released soon, and am preparing to release my music video for my Trying To Be Commercial song soon.”
Hitman got his underground breakthrough in 2017 when he released his mixtape, Funtrap and released his music video, I Got Fire, in 2018. Last year, he released his debut EP, The Next EP.
He spends days recording songs and producing for underground hip hop artists.
