RISING gospel star Xolly Mncwango says attending church when she was a little girl introduced her to the music industry.
She said if it were not for church, Joyous Celebration would not have discovered her in 2015.
And now, she is a big award nominee.
The KZN-born singer released her debut album in 2020, and it has scored four Crown Gospel Music Awards nominations.
“If I didn’t attend church, I wouldn’t be here. I really thank God for this wonderful journey and gift of music,” said Xolly.

She added that she grew up attending church, where she used to sing for the congregants.
She has been nominated in four categories – Best Gospel Album, Best Female Artist, Best Gospel Song and Best Worship Song.
Xolly said these nominations were proof that her music career was growing.
“Being nominated in such big awards is a blessing. It is also a challenge to me, as an artist, to always maintain my standard.”
