MUSICIAN and producer DJ Jawz has switched things up a bit in his sound.

DJ Jawz (real name Itumeleng Sebola) released his latest Afrobeat single titled Sukuma, last month.

Speaking to SunBuzz, DJ Jawz said: “Sukuma is a track I did with Aubrey Qwana, TouchLine, Balinde and Jerah. The powerful track speaks to thewell-known adage, Uzoy’thola kanjani uhleli ekhoneni? which means how will you get it while sitting at the corner. It carries a message of courage and hope.”

He said GT Beats production captures the fighting spirit of the youth of this country in its very fiber.

DJ Jawz wants to see people take charge of their future by making an effort to initiate change.

“The whole idea is to speak to people’s hearts with this song. We want to bring change in people’s lives using art,” he said.

The 39-year-old said he wants to share his message of hope and change across the globe.

The star said he was inspired by DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Christos, Oskido, Bob Mabena, Fistaz, Phat Joe, and DJ Fresh.

“They made me love good sounds. That’s the reason I make and play good music,” he said.

“I create any genre of music, from hip hop, kwaito, Afrobeats, pop, and house,” said DJ Jawz.

DJ Jawz started writing music in high school and producing in 2004.

“I did a single titled Good Life with the late Flabba, which dropped in 2015. Followed by Come Roll With Us featuring Cassper Nyovest and AB Crazy in 2016.

DJ Jawz produces andco-hosts Absolute Hop Hop on Metro FM with DJ Speedsta and Loot Love every Saturday from 6pm to 10pm.

He enjoys giving people the spotlight.

“There’s a feature I’m busy running on Metro, called Below the Surface. This is where I invite up-and-coming rappers to submit their music to be played on air.

“Listeners’ votes decide whether the track stays on air, or not.

He also runs The Get Down with DJ Zan D, which is a DJ event and they feature young artists and legendary artists.

“I’d love to work with DJ Maphorisa, Black Coffee and DJ Jazzy Jeff. I look up to them,” he said.
