Award-winning actor Mandla Jwara is excited about the second season of BET’s sitcom Black Tax.
The talented actor, who plays the role of Sizwe on the show, told SunBuzz that the new season is going to be a conversation starter.
“The show being renewed at a time like this where many productions are being halted and put on hold really says a lot. I’m excited to be back as part of the cast because when I was approached for season one I never thought I would be able to pull it off as I don’t consider myself as funny,” he said.
Mandla said the new season is going to hit home.
“There are a lot of dynamics that families don’t talk about and when they play themselves out in the open, people tend to get embarrassed. This season is definitely going to touch on that and people will find themselves resonating with the show more than ever. We have experienced black tax one way or another, and people are going to learn a lot about how we can build healthier relationships,” he said.

Mandla, whose career in the acting industry spans over decades and has been part of shows such as Generations, Muvhango, Gaz’Lam and The Wild, said being part of the show was an amazing experience.
“I had an amazing time shooting the show, both on set and off set. Sometimes it would take time for the director to calm us down because we would be bursting in laughter and that is how much of a family we have become,” he said.
Mandla said that he enjoys being a storyteller as it comes with a lot of responsibility.
“This is because in your storytelling you reflect many faces in society,” he said.
The new season of BET’s first-ever sitcom Black Tax airs every Friday at 9.30pm.
