It has been six years of steadily building his name in the music industry.

Now Charles Mnisi, better known as The Prince SA, has released his debut album, titled Rhythms of Africa.

Speaking to Sun Buzz, he said the album was inspired by the uniqueness of the African continent.

“It is mainly inspired by our vast cultures in music, which get projected down to the melodies and each song telling its own story.”

The 33-year-old musician said working on the album was amazing as he got the opportunity to work with some of Mpumalanga’s amazing talents.

“It is an amazing Afrohouse project that tells my story. Every song tells its own story, and my hope is that it reaches beyond South Africa,” he said.

On the project, he has worked with the likes of Shota and Mr Chillax.

The Mpumalanga-born artist, who spent five years working on the album, explained why it took him so long to complete.

“Working on a full project requires a lot of patience. But besides that, one of my dreams has always been that when I get to release an album, it must be classic.

“And, Rhythms of Africa is very musical, which is why I did not want to rush it.”

Being influenced by the likes of the late Busi Mhlongo and Sibongile Khumalo, The Prince SA’s music is inspired mostly by his drive to put a certain message across.

“For instance, the lead single Imali talks about the daily challenges and negativity that we sometimes get from society and life in general.

“The song says; let people talk because they will always talk – whether you do good or bad. Just keep going,” he shared.

Although he has been in the game for quite some time, The Prince SA shared with Sun Buzz that his musical journey was just getting started.

“I still have a long way to go. But so far, this journey has taught me a lot and I continue learning every day.

“One day, I hope to be known as one of the best producers in Africa, and travel the world to showcase my talent,” he added.
