FORMERIdols SA contestant Neliswa Mxakaza is looking forward to becoming a mum and teaching her son to respect women.

Neliswa, who took part in season nine, along her twin sister Anele, is expecting her first child.

The 26-year-old from Durban told Daily Sun: “I am looking forward to teaching him to be a better man. I want him to treat women well, respect them and be there for them.

“The world we live in is ruthless, and I pray my son will grow up well. I’m glad to be raising a new generation of men.”

Neliswa said she wanted a girl while her fiancé wanted a boy, but she was happy, nevertheless.

“He was sure this is a boy. He’s happy he won and is excited. I am too, although I had hoped for a baby girl,” she said.

She added that together with her sister, they were scared when she found out she was pregnant.

“I was sick and didn’t know what was happening. I even thought it was Covid-19. I looked up the pregnancy symptoms and took a test, which came back positive,” she said.

“At first, Anele was scared because she knows me to be always sick. But after a while, she said she was glad because she would experience pregnancy through me. As twins, whatever happens to me physically also happens to her.”

Neliswa said she would be getting married in 2022.

“We were supposed to get married this year but because the baby decided to come, we have moved the wedding to next year,” she said.
