Politics is not a popularity contest for Rise Mzansi leader Songezo Zibi.
The former newspaper editor says earning the trust of constituents has been his core focus while building his new party over the past 12 months.
"When you have grassroots support, the question of who the leader is [becomes] less important than knowing what the party is about," Zibi tells News24's Qaanitah Hunter.
Zibi has been laying the groundwork in various communities across the country, sharing and building Rise Mzansi's vision for the future.
"Personality is not what is going to attract or repel people," the politician adds.
In this latest Q&A podcast episode, Zibi reflects on his first year as Rise Mzansi leader and his targets for the 29 May election.
