MULTICHOICE has dangled a fat carrot in front of South African football fans, putting up for grabs R5 000 in grocery vouchers at each of the 2016 MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) matches.
Spokesman Sandile Luthuli said this season they wanted fans to be more involved in the competition, which was officially launched at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban yesterday.
Luthuli said there would be goodies for the supporters in attendance. “We have prizes for fans at every game of the season,” said Luthuli.
“They must write their details on the back of their match tickets and there will be a draw, with one fan walking away with a R5 000 grocery voucher.
“This will happen throughout the season. At the end of the season one lucky fan, with his or her partner, will win a trip to the Netherlands with the winning team.”
Meanwhile, reigning MDC champions Golden Arrows have vowed to double their efforts in their quest to successfully defend their title.
Arrows’ MDC coach, Vusimuzi Vilakazi, said his players were ready for the season ahead. “This season we’re looking to rectify last year’s mistakes. I have the core of last season’s players available, so it will be easy to rectify those errors.”
- Maritzburg United’s MDC captain, Bandile Shandu, has heaped praise on coach Ernst Middendorp for not giving up on him.
The young central midfielder says Middendorp has given him and his MDC teammates encouragement ahead of the start of the MDC season this Saturday.
“Having Middendorp in the team is a blessing. Four years ago when I was 17, he gave me my first PSL experience against AmaZulu. Everyone is looking forward to the start of this MDC season,” said the 21-year-old Shandu.
