Sexual harassment at schools is getting out of control.
Schools have become violent and unsafe environments, particularly for the girl child.
It is also unfortunate that there has been a resounding silence from society.
I’m particularly concerned about the long-term effects on children who are victims of abuse.
Their self-esteem drops, their school marks are affected, some drop out and their social and personal development is affected.
These children very often fail to fulfil their ambitions and these are mostly girls.
The protection of our children is a primary responsibility for all of us.
It is time to move from indignation to action.
Schools have a responsibility to protect pupils from abusive teachers.
