LAEL Chisomo has warned Elon Musk and other innovators that he’s coming for them.

Lael (26), a self-taught technician and "engineer", has become a big feature in the activities that visitors and holidaymakers can do in and around Hartbeespoort Dam, North West.

The talented Lael offers rides and photo opportunities in his creation that he named Plane Car.

His Plane Car is a creation that he made in just three months by combining a car and the fuselage of a light aircraft.

“I did everything with my own hands; from welding to moulding and wiring. I also painted the car and did the interior.

“I finished the project in October last year and ever since, a lot of people have been supporting me by taking pictures with the Plane Car and then give me some small change.

“I also hire it out to people for parties, weddings, and other functions as it is fun to drive in. The most recent event I went to was in Joburg where Israel was promoting their country to young South Africans who are interesting in studying or working there. With the money that I make, I'm saving for my next project while I also maintain this one,” he said.

In building his creation, Lael said he used his old Nissan Sentra and then bought the body of a Piper small plane from Annlin in Pretoria North for R38 000. He said that his next project will be something similar to a hovercraft so that he can also take tourists on tours around the dam.

Lael, born at Ntcheu in Malawi, said he came to Mzansi in 2017 looking for opportunities but couldn’t find a good job.

“I then decided to start doing my thing. I never went to school for the work that I do; it’s talent from God. I also fix electronics like cellphones and TVs as well as home appliances like fridges and microwaves,” he said.

Lael said he’s single and has no plans of having kids anytime soon as he wants to focus on his goals of one day owning a manufacturing plant.
