ZAKES Bantwini, Nomcebo Zikode and Wouter Kellerman are flying the country’s flag high.
The trio won a Grammy for Best Global Music Performance for their song, Bayethe, on Sunday, 5 February.
The awards were held in Los Angeles, USA and were hosted by South African star, Trevor Noah.
South Africa now officially has 12 Grammys – five from Ladysmith Black Mambazo, three from Soweto Gospel Choir, one from Black Coffee, one from Miriam Makeba and two from Wouter, one of which he shares with Zakes and Nomcebo.
South Africans have been on social media, celebrating the win and the musicians.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Wouter said it was amazing to be recognised by the Grammys.
“I’m so excited – absolutely over the moon! It’s been my mission to share South African music and culture with the world and this is such a beautiful moment on that road. It’s amazing to be acknowledged on the world’s biggest stage.

“A very big thank you to all of you who have supported us over the years and through difficult times!” he said.
Zakes dedicated the win to Africans.
“This award is not just for us. It’s for everyone back home. This moment is testament to the fact that our dreams are valid, and we can accomplish anything we set our minds on,” he said.

Taking to Instagram, Nomcebo said she didn’t think she’d reach such a platform.
“Look at God!!! From Hammarsdale to the world! I never imagined that God would take me to such heights and platforms!
“I want to give a special shoutout to @wouterkellerman, @tholsi_pillay, @zakesbantwini and @sibo_the_zulu @fraserselwyn for thinking of me when putting this record together. We did it,” she wrote.
