Clermont Choir ready to showcase their singing prowess internationally.

THE internationally acclaimed choral choir, Clermont Choir is on a mission to market itself overseas.

The choir from Clermont in Durban, KZN has announced their 2024 massive international music tour to the USA.

The choir, which has 47 members, has called auditions for the tour which will be held at Durban Music School on 2 September.

Choir boss Wiseman Mkhize told Daily Sun that the tour will be their new strategy to target the international markets.

“We last performed in France in 2013 and we have realized that the overseas audience is the one where Mzansi choirs like Soweto Gospel Choir and Ndlovu Choir become popular.

“Our tour will be themed ‘Celebrating South Africa’s 30 years of democracy’ and we will tour New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Washington DC, as well as Georgia,” he said.

He said they are looking for members between the ages of 18 and 35 years for the auditions, and they will also re-audition their current members.

The Clermont choir will also be celebrating its 31st anniversary this year.

Mkhize said those who want to audition must have the ability to sing various genres and be available for touring abroad.

“Successful candidates must be in possession of a South African passport, with at least three years validity for visa purposes.

“Previous traceable experience in singing and dance is crucial,” he said.
