THE FACTS
DEBRA Montsho said her late mum, Mary Mogaki, wanted to sell her house in Naledi, Soweto and spoke to an estate agent. A few weeks later the agent told Mary she had found a buyer and asked her to come to attorneys in Roodepoort where the paperwork would be done. Mary asked for time to talk to her kids about the price she would ask for the house. The title deed was already with the attorneys. But then Mary fell ill and died. Debra notified the attorneys about her mum’s death and said they should no longer sell the house. The attorneys sent them a letter confirming the cancellation of the sale. But Debra received an eviction notice from a person who was supposed to have bought the house. When she asked for the title deed from the attorneys, they refused to give it to her, stating that the family owed them money.
