BANYANA Banyana midfielder Amanda Dlamini said no player should be complacent with the announcement of the final squad to travel to Brazil for the Olympic Games.

Dlamini joined Portia Modise, Nompumelelo Nyandeni and Janine van Wyk as players who have reached 100 caps in the green and gold. She achieved it in their preparation match against world champions USA on Saturday.

Team South Africa will be announced on Thursday by the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee at a gala dinner.

Dlamini said: “When it comes to selection, as a player you put yourself in the team. But if you are not what the coach is looking for unfortunately there are top spots and there has to be cuts.

“We all know that you can only play 11 players and a certain number of substitutes. We are expecting anything, I don’t think anyone has a spot.

“Complacency is something we eradicate in the team. It’s not about favours, but you need to earn a spot in the team.”

Although Banyana only lost 1-0 to the reigning champions, Dlamini said they need to work on goal- scoring which is not good enough yet.

The match against the US saw the return to the Banyana team of Robyn Moodaly, who has been recovering from a knee injury.

The US-based player last played in the second- leg Olympic qualifier against Equatorial Guinea, which they won.

She said: “I went back to the States after qualifying and unfortunately I got an infection in my knee, that’s why I couldn’t join the team early. When I came back I was cleared of everything. I’m just working on my fitness but it’s now doing well.”
