AMAZULU FC head coach, Joseph Antipas, is looking forward to continuing where he and his charges have left off a fortnight ago in the National First Division.
Usuthu visit Cape Town All Stars this afternoon at Parow Park (3pm).
Usuthu defeated Limpopo-based Black Leopards 2-1 in their opening game of the 2016/2017 season.
The Zimbabwean-born mentor said they want to take it one game at a time and see how far it goes.
Said Antipas: “We’re ready for war. We tried to rectify errors in the defence we made in our first game. We’re looking forward to the game.
“I want to take out the mentality of playing draws when you play away. We’re going there looking for maximum points. We’re not going for a draw.”
Veterans Siyabonga Nomvethe, and Mabhuti Khenyeza are expected to play a key role in the team’s success this season.
Already, Nomvethe has hinted as to what to expect of him this season – having scored his first goal of the season in their opening match.
Last season Usuthu conceded more than 30 goals and managed to score only 34.
“The boys need to believe in themselves and make sure we don’t concede unnecessary goals. We must collect as many points as we can early,” he concluded.
In other game today, Thanda Royal Zulu host Royal Eagles in a KZN derby. A lot is expected in this game as Eagles are looking forward to redeeming themselves after a dull draw in their first game against rookies Real Kings.
Thanda won their first game and are expected to improve from the last season.
