Bakgaga made wholesale changes to their roster in a bid to turn around their disastrous form in their debut campaign in the Premiership, which sees them languish at the foot of the table.

In addition to the departure of Matete, the Limpopo-based outfit also confirmed the deaprtures of Khalid Aucho, Victor Letsoalo and Uganda international, Geofrey Massa, whilst coach Kgoloko Thobejane made way for Jacob Sakala.

Matete was signed by Baroka during the 2015/16 campaign and immediately helped the side gain promotion from the National First Division.

However, the 25-year-old didn't garner much game-time in the top flight, but the winger says that it's part and parcel of the game.

"It's true I'm no longer with the club. I'm at home as we speak." he told KickOff.

"I understand, it's football. Football is like that. These things happens in football, who am I for them not to happen to me?

"In fact, I never even trained with the team this year, I left the same day we opened.

"I take this as a learning curve for me to become a better player. Such things can only build me as a player.

"Thanks to the club for the opportunity, it's just unfortunate that it had to end this way. There are lot of things that were involved I cannot mention.

"I'm looking forward to joining another team, it's normal in football that when a team releases you as a player, automatically people assume there was something wrong with you, but to me Baroka was a stepping stone, I will prove myself somewhere else," he concluded.
