A MATRIC pupil has allegedly committed suicide at his home in Nigel, Ekurhuleni.

The incident took place after the pupil wrote an exam on Wednesday.

He was studying at Nigel High School.

The reasons surrounding his death are not yet known.

The boy was allegedly found by his sister after she returned from school.

Nigel police spokeswoman Sergeant Neliswa Dwaba said police are investigating the matter.

“I can confirm that an inquest has been opened by the Nigel police,” said Dwaba.

Daily Sun visited the family but was told the parents had gone to the mortuary.

) In another incident, the family of a grade 7 pupil, allegedly bullied to death by his classmates, has accused the school of failing to protect the 13-year-old boy.

The boy was a pupil at Noorderlig Gekombineerde Skool in Benoni.

According to family spokeswoman Crystal Osborne, the pupil and his brother were attacked on 5 September as well as twice last week.

“On Friday he came home after having been kicked in the head by the same boys,” said Osborne.

He died on Tuesday from the injuries.

Education spokesman Steve Mabona said an investigation of the circumstances surrounding the death is being done.

“We will report on the outcome after completion.

“We sincerely convey our deepest condolences to the family.

“We have offered counselling to pupils and teachers as well as the family,” said Mabona.
