THE store should have welcomed Sipho with open arms.

After all, he was at Mr Price at Eyethu Mall in Orange Farm to spend money.

Instead, Sipho Manana (27) was allegedly punched by security guards and arrested for shoplifting.

It turned out he had a slip for clothes he had bought from another Mr Price. The store dropped a case it had opened at the Orange Farm cop shop.

The incident happened on 25 June last year, but his mum Fikile (48) is still fuming.

She only received a call from a manager at the store last week to tell her how sorry he was.

She’s not convinced and wants Mr Price to pay for what the guards did.

“I’m not taking this lightly. They embarrassed my son in front of people,” she said.

“Worse still, he spent hours in
police cells, accused of something he didn’t do. Sorry is not enough.”

Her son apparently bought three pairs of trousers at Mr Price in Krugersdorp. He then went to Mr Price at Eyethu Mall to buy items he didn’t find at Krugersdorp.

“He explained to the security at the door that he had items from another store, but the security chose not to search the bag,” she claimed.

Sipho said: “I was wrongly accused of being a thief.”

Daily Sun spoke to an official at Eyethu Mall’s Mr Price, who said they were looking into the matter.
