PHINDA Mabaso (51) of Tafelkop, south of Durban buried his 19-year-old daughter Nomcebo Mabaso, without eyes and tongue.
The funeral was two weeks ago.
Phinda said he was convinced that her body parts were used for muthi.
Nomcebo left her home at midnight on 2 October.
She was found dead in the bush 4km away from her home three weeks later. Her head and legs showed that she was stabbed with a sharp object several times and her entire body had serious bruises.
Phinda told Daily Sun that there was no way that the murderer would just take the eyes and cut the tongue for no reason.
“Witchdoctors use people’s body parts for muthi and our area has a history of evil deeds.
“The entire incident has witchcraft all over it because Nomcebo was not a type of a person who would go out at night, not even by accident,” he said.
Phinda said it was as if the murderer used muthi to lure her out.
He said they realised in the morning that she was not home. They were puzzled as to why she changed from her night dress to normal clothes when she went to the toilet.
Phinda said the wounds opened by Nomcebo’s brutal death will heal only when the murderer is behind bars.
He said after the mourning period has passed they will consult a sangoma to find out more about Nomcebo’s death.
Another member of the family said even though they had buried Nomcebo, they still have many unanswered questions.
“She took her phone with her and it was never found. When we call it sometimes rings and it’s disturbing because it means the killer is not afraid and ashamed of what he did to our family.”
KZN police spokesman Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala said KwaNdengezi cops have opened an inquest docket.
“Investigations are still continuing after the body of a 19-year-old woman was found in the bush with serious injuries and no arrests have been made,” said Gwala.
