MAN BUST FOR SPEEDING & BRIBING COPS!

accreditation

HE WAS driving in an 100km/h zone but this Nigerian was in so much of a hurry that he was clocked at 141km/h by traffic officers.

As if that was not enough, he was also overtaking law-abiding motorists on the solid barrier line on the N4 near Schoemanskloof, Mpumalanga.

He might have got off with just a heavy traffic fine, but his thirst for breaking the law was still not satisfied, so he offered the officers a bribe of R1 000 to allow him to carry on in his speeding way.

This was after he produced an Australian driver’s licence.

He was arrested instead.

Joseph Mabuza, a spokesman for the department of community safety, security and liaison, said the motorist was arrested on Friday after offering officers a bribe.

The man appeared in the Nelspruit Regional Court on Monday for bribery and reckless and negligent driving.

He was released on R1 500 bail and the case was postponed.

Community safety MEC Pat Ngomane applauded the officers for arresting the man, saying it would serve as a lesson to those who try to bribe law enforcers.

“We cannot win the battle against road accidents if motorists bribe officers when they are caught on the wrong side of the law.”
