GOVERNMENT promised to build him a house long ago, but instead they left a heap of soil in his yard.

It seemed that no one was interested in finishing the house – until SunPower got involved!

Now workers are on the site. A construction company began building madala Mohale Musi (80) a five-roomed house in Botsabela, Mangaung last Thursday.

His story was published in Daily Sun on 3 February this year.

He said he had been promised a house 19 years ago.

“I was promised the house because my brother George Musi was killed and burned during the apartheid era.

“While the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was still running, I received a letter from late former president Nelson Mandela’s office saying I deserved to get a house and social welfare in the name of my brother, to honour him.

“But that turned out to be a struggle.

“Now I am smiling as a contractor is busy building my house. I will never have to wash my body using a basin again. Because of Daily Sun I will have a bathroom and a shower!

“I also want to thank Olly Mlamleli, the Free State MEC for co-operative governance, traditional affairs and human settlements, for her efforts.

“She promised Daily Sun that I would get help and indeed I got it. Finally my dream will come true and my brother will rest in peace.”

Site manager Godfree Kone said they will finish the house in the next two to three weeks.

“We are going to put in a ceiling and install wiring for electricity,” he said.
