WITHIN MINUTES of Tau Mogale’s crash, rumours started flying around about the cause of the crash.

And many questions have gone unanswered.

NOW INSIDERS HAVE TOLD DAILY SUN WHAT REALLY HAPPENED ON SUNDAY NIGHT.

According to insiders close to the investigation, the Generations: The Legacy actor whose real name is Rapulana Seiphemo, was hijacked by two thugs who found themselves face to face with a very stubborn victim. The TV star was travelling on the N14 near Diepsloot just before 10pm in his Audi A4 on Sunday, 14 February.

According to an insider, Rapulana was driving alone in a white Audi A4 when he stopped at a Diepsloot intersection known as a hijacking hotspot. Two thugs from Mamelodi, Tshwane jumped into his car.

The man in the front had a gun, the man in the back appears to have been unarmed.

“They made Rapulana drive towards Pretoria,” said the source.

“The thug at the back wasn’t listening to the instructions of the man in the front. It appears he panicked because he jumped out of the vehicle while it was moving.”

Only Tau knows what happened next, but what seems to be clear is that he did not want to co-operate with the gunman in the front passenger seat, who died when the actor crashed into another car at high speed.

Another insider said while Rapulana was airlifted to Milpark Hospital, the investigating officer on the case received a tip-off and found the man who had jumped out of the car at another Gauteng hospital.

“He claimed he was injured in a car accident in Laudium, Tshwane,” said our second source. The officer left the thug but made enquiries and established that no such accident had taken place.

“The officer went back to get a statement so that if he lied he could be charged with perjury,” said the source.

Another person said nurses at the hospital tipped off the officer that he was trying to escape.

“He kept asking for a cellphone and he made calls to people to help him get out. The officer got an order to get him transferred to another hospital where he is now under police guard,” said the informant.

Police spokesman Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng said he can’t comment on anything as they are waiting for the investigation to be finalised.

The SunTeam phoned Rapulana but his phone rang unanswered and he had not returned our text messages by the time of going to print.

Family spokesman Mduduzi Sikhakhane said he can’t comment because the matter is still being handled by the police. Rapulana is recovering at home.

The two victims who died when Rapulana drove into the back of their Toyota Corolla, Jerry Coertze and Donovan van Zyl, were buried yesterday at Sterkfontein Cemetery in Mogale City.
