ON TUESDAY, Lesotho citizens went to Home Affairs in Mangaung to demand their money back.
They had applied for work permits but never got them!
They were told to collect them, but to their surprise their receipts were destroyed and they weren’t refunded their R970.
Lesotho citizen Paseka Ramalebo (54), from Caleb Motshabi kasi, told Daily Sun: “It was all over the news that people from Lesotho should go to Home
Affairs to apply for permits.
“I did that with all the necessary documents, was billed R970, and told I’d get a call to collect my permit after two months and three weeks.
“It’s been a year and two months now, but I’m still waiting to collect it. On my way to the department, I found out that I was not the only one.
“I found other people from Lesotho standing next to the department’s fence, struggling to get their permits.
“The worst part is that our
receipts were taken and we didn’t get our money back.”
Kamohelo Mokapela (32) said: “I applied last September and was only called last Friday to collect my papers. But I was given a letter stating my application was rejected.
“Someone is not doing his job, and the only thing I want is to get our money back, because they have failed us.”
Home Affairs manager Bonakele Mayekiso said: “About 10 000 permits need to be collected. I’m not sure about repayments, but I will investigate.”
