SERVICES will be suspended at the Helen Joseph Hospital today.
The Gauteng Department of Health said this was to allow for scheduled installation of a change-over switch for all the hospital’s generators.
Gauteng health spokesman Steve Mabona said there would be a power shutdown in the intensive care unit, operating theatres, the renal unit, X-ray department, mortuary and all lifts between 6am to 3pm.
“During this time the hospital will not be admitting any patients,” he said.
“Community members are therefore advised not to present or refer patients to the hospital.
“They should instead visit their local clinics or present themselves at either Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital, Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital or Leratong Hospital.”
He said prior arrangements have been made with those facilities.
