PEOPLE were angry when Rose Kgabane and other ANC members claimed a councillor was corrupt and unfit to hold office.
But she never expected what happened next.
SHE CLAIMS SHE WAS ASSAULTED, HIJACKED, KIDNAPPED AND SPENT A NIGHT OF HELL, HELD HOSTAGE – BY THE COPS!
It was during a meeting held in Mayfield, Daveyton in Ekurhuleni regarding problems raised by ward 69 residents, when Rose and other ANC members exposed the councillor’s corrupt activities, saying he should not be in office.
Councillor Stenias Mashala and five other ANC branch members then allegedly assaulted Rose.
She claims she was later hijacked and kidnapped by the VIP Protection Unit of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police, which allegedly colluded with the councillor on Sunday.
Mashala and five other members were arrested on Monday for assault by Putfontein cops.
The men were charged and appeared in court yesterday.
A case of hijacking and kidnapping was also opened against the Metro cops.
Rose’s blue 2006 Kia Cerato, registration, TVL 464 GP is missing.
She told Daily Sun her kidnapping nightmare began after she left the Putfontein Police Station on Sunday.
She had openied a case of assault against the councillor.
“I was driving home when a marked Ekurhuleni Metro cop van stopped in front of me.
“The cops told me to get out and get into their vehicle as I was under arrest for pointing a gun at the councillor.
“I told them I didn’t even own a gun.”
She said a cop got into her car and she was told they were going to the Putfontein Police Station.
“But then the car took a different direction, heading towards Tshwane.”
She said the cop driving her car made a U-turn and that was the last time she saw her car.
When they got to the Tshwane CBD, she heard one of the policemen speaking to someone on the phone and asking what must they do with her.
“I suspect he was speaking to Councillor Mashala,” claimed Rose.
Rose alleged she spent the whole night in the Metro cop car while they were deciding what to do with her.
“Later the cops left me alone in the car and I had a chance to escape.”
A stranger gave her a lift back to Joburg.
“I don’t know what would have happened to me if I hadn’t got away.”
Residents of Zenzele, near Mayfield in Daveyton, claimed the councillor is abusing his power.
“He is very arrogant,” said a resident.
“We want the ANC to intervene because he’s destroying the party through his corrupt activities.”
Daily Sun spoke to Mashala, who said he wasn’t going to comment.
Daily Sun explained that it was important for him to state his side of the story, but he still refused to say anything.
Captain Pearl Van Staad confirmed the councillor was arrested and said cases of hijacking and kidnapping were being investigated.
Yesterday Daily Sun contacted the ANC, but the party refused to comment.
