NEIGHBOURS claim Neo Rakale (34), a resident of zone 4 in Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane, is causing a stink!
Members of the community want him to clean up his yard or find somewhere else to live.
Daniel Kgokane (50), one of the angry residents, claimed: “His house is a pigsty. I can’t even walk down the road, the smell is so bad. We have pleaded with him to do something about the mess, but he refuses to listen.”
The neighbours said the rubbish attracts rats and snakes to their kasi.
They said the smell is unbearable on rainy and windy days.
The rubbish keeps flying around the streets and into people’s yards.
Another neighbour, Patience Moloko (48), said: “We can’t live like this.
“We have raised our concerns with our councillor, but nothing has happened.
“This has been going on for more than a year and the piles of rubbish keep growing.
“We are also worried about our kids’ health.
“Some of us can’t cook because of the smell, while others can’t keep their yards clean because the wind keeps blowing rubbish into their homes.”
Neo said: “I recycle rubbish for a living.
“My business helps me take care of myself.
“No one has the right to tell me what to do in my yard.”
Councillor Jabu Rammushi said although Neo has the right to make a living, it is unacceptable for him to pollute the area.
“We will ask him to manage his business better so he can make peace with his neighbours and keep the area clean.”
