SPARKS are set to fly tomorrow at the Uncedo Taxi Association’s office.
That’s when angry mum Buziwe Mapapu (63) will be coming to hear answers and to demand action.
This is after her son, Anenkosi Mapapu (22), was allegedly moered by taximen who wrongfully accused him of robbing a woman on Thursday morning.
Anenkosi told Daily Sun he was walking along the road on the pavement when a white Toyota Quantum suddenly stopped in front of him.
“Several men manhandled me and pushed me into the taxi where a woman claimed I was part of a group of men who robbed her of her cellphone. I was taken to the taxi rank where I was moered with planks and sjamboks.
“They never asked me questions and kept beating me while others stabbed me with their knives. I was dizzy from the beating when they finally stopped and I stumbled home, bleeding.”
Anenkosi said he doesn’t know why he was beaten because he is innocent.
“I was only looking for a job.”
Buziwe, of Motherwell NU9, Port Elizabeth said she’s already been to the taxi rank to confront the taximen once.
“Their surprised leader told me he would investigate the matter and come back to me and apologise, but he failed to do so. I’m angry about what they did to my son and I want answers.”
Anenkosi said he hadn’t opened a case with police as he doesn’t know his attackers.
Luyanda Bentele, spokesman for the Uncedo Taxi Association, said: “I am not aware of the incident. She must come to our office and lay a charge.
“But it’s going to be difficult if her son doesn’t know the taxi drivers who assaulted him.”
The leader of the committee in the area told Daily Sun the community felt angry about the assault as Anenkosi was known as a good person in the area. But Uncedo has promised to investigate the matter.
