INSULTS, accusations and sheer shade as South African Minister of Sports and Recreation, Fikile Mbalula and sports broadcasting veteran, Robert Marawa have it out on Twitter.
This on the eve of Marawa's birthday.
The twar got so deep, Marawa even accused Mbalula of trying to get him fired from Metro FM when he was president of the ANC Youth League.
It all began when Sports Editor of the Times Media Group Digital, Mninawa Ntloko tweeted that according to Mbalula, Durban might lose out on its bid to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Marawa then commented, saying “this we knew when they were busy acting like Tarzan!!”.
And this is when things went south.
Mbalula hit back and called Marawa “vindictive” because he has an axe to grind against him.
“Study the facts get the report and dont be vindictive bfo you blow your usual hot air on the matter,” said the minister.
“Your gripe be honest you never believed in us hosting the Commonwealth games,” he continued.
Marawa obviously did not take this blow laying down. He clapped back at Mbalula, saying that the usual hot air is Mbalula’s department.
Marawa then brought up the Metro FM accusation which remains unverified.
“I have no "gripe" FYI.I have a different opinion. Different to u trying to get me fired from MetroFM, that's a gripe,” Marawa tweeted.
However, according to Mbalula, the radio broadcaster should have been fired a long time ago but he defended Marawa to the powers that be at the SABC.
